Day 01 - Arrive Chennai

Red fort and lotus temple On arrival at Chennai airport you will be met transfered to hotel. For more than 2000 years the Chennai area has been popular with seafarers, spice traders and cloth merchants. Chennai has grown from the merging of a number of small villages, including its former namesake Madraspatnam. Overnight in Chennai.




Day 02 – Drive Chennai - Mahabalipuram (65 Kms / approx. 01 hour)

After breakfast start your city tour of Chennai-the fourth largest city in India. visiting the National Art Gallery. Fort St.George, St.Mary's Church and the St.Thomas Cathedral and drive along the Marina.

Later leave by surface for Mahalbalipuram (Mamallapuram) famous for its shore temple once the principal port of the Pallavas who rules between the 06th and 09th century AD. On arrival in Mahablipuram, check into hotel. Later in the afternoon start your tour of Mahabalipuram. Ganesh Ratha . A rock cut dravidian temples resembling a chariout, Trimurti Cave temple , just north to the Ganesh Ratha. Five Rathas –are sculptured temples in the style of Chariots. Overnight in Mahabalipuram


Day 03 – Drive Mahabalipuram-Kanchipuram - Pondicherry (145 Kms / approx. 03 hours)

Red fort and lotus temple After breakfast depart for Pondicherry en-route visiting Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram - the city of a thousand temples, once the capital of Pallava, still contains no less than 124 shrines. Mainly two rulers, Mahendray and Mamall Narashimha Parman, built the temples. Typical of their architecture is the Kailasnatha Temple dedicated to Shiva, believed to be 1200 years old. Other important ones include the 16th Century Ekambasreshwar Temple, Kamakshi Temple , and Vaikunta Perumal. Kanchipuram is the centre for silk weaving and is famous for its saris and dress materials. Later continue your drive for Pondicherry. On arrival in Pondicherry, check into hotel. Overnight in Pondicherry Overnight in Nainital.


Day 04 – In Pondicherry

Red fort and lotus templePondicherry is a charming town with a French culture which settled in the early 18th century. Start your tour visiting the famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram founded in 1926 by Sri Aurobindo and a Frenchwoman known as the The Mother. The ashram does many cultural and educational activities in Pondicherry. Rest of the day spend visiting Pondicherry Museum , Churches etc. Overnight in Pondicherry




Day 05 – Drive Pondicherry – Trichy (185 Kms / approx. 04 hours)

Red fort and lotus temple Morning after breakfast leave by surface for Trichy. On arrival in Trichy, check into hotel. Later, proceed for the sightseeing tour of Trichy including Rock fort Temple perched 83m high on a massive rocky outcrop, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple-superb temple dedicated to Vishnu, Sri Jambukeshwara Temple dedicated to Shiva and Parvati and other religious sites. Overnight in Trichy





Day 06 – Drive Trichy – Tanjavur (55 Kms / approx. 1.5 hours)

Thanjavur (Tanjore) was the ancient capital of the Chola Kings, controlled most of the Indian peninsula, including parts of Sri Lanka and the Srivijaya kingdom of the Malay Peninsula and Sumatara. On arrival in Tanjavur check into your prebooked hotel. Later spent the day visiting Brihadishwara Temple & Fort, Thanjavur Palace & Museums.

Day 07 – Drive Tanjavur – Madurai (160 Kms / approx. 04 hours)

After breakfast leave by surface from Madurai. Over the centuries Madurai has come under the juridictions of the Cholas,the Pandyas, the Muslim invaders and the Nayaks who ruled Madurai until 1781. On arrival in Madurai check into your pre booked hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 08 -In Madurai
Red fort and lotus templeAfter breakfast start your full day tour visiting the Meenakashi Temple- The Sri Meenaksh Temple was designed in 1560 during the reign of Tirumalai Nayak. This is a huge complex of temples. Within the temple complex , housed in the 1000 pillard hall , is the Temple Art Museum. Later continue your city tour visiting Tirumalai Nayak Palace , Museums and Mariamman Teppakkulam Tank. Overnight in Madurai




Day 09 – Drive Madurai - Periyar (155 Kms / approx. 04 hours)

After an early breakfast drive to Periyar. Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary created by British. It’s home to Wild Boar, Antelopes, langur, Boison, Sambar. The drive to this hilltop wildlife sanctuary is one of the most beautiful ones.
On arrival in Periyar, check into hotel. Spend rest of the day at leisure exploring on your own.

Day 10 – In Periyar

Red fort and lotus temple Morning after breakfast visit of spice plantation. The area is famous for coffee, tea, and the plant in Asia.
Enjoy evening boat ride on Lake Periyar. All activities of the reserve is concentrated around the lake. There are nearly 700 elephants in the region, most often around the lake.
Rest of the time walking around and enjoying the surroundings
Overnight in Periyar.


Day 11 – Drive Periyar - Kumarakom (185 Kms / approx. 05 hours)

After breakfast start your journey for Kumarakom. The drive is a wonderful experience passing through the backwater and plantations. Upon arrival In Kumarakom, check into hotel.
Overnight in Kumarakom.


Day 12 – Transfer Kumarakom - Houseboat

Red fort and lotus temple Morning at leisure, later in-time transfer to the embarkment point for the houseboat. It’s once a lifetime experience to have such a romantic and beautiful experience. Time spend on the houseboat passing through the Backwaters of Kerala.

Day 13 - Houseboat - Cochin (65 Kms / approx. 01 hour)

Red fort and lotus templeDisembark houseboat at Alleppey and drive to Cochin. On arrival in Cochin,check into hotel. After a short rest proceed for the sightseeing tour of Cochin visiting the oldest church in India winding streets with mosques and 500 year old Portuguese houses, cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, a Jewish community with ancient roots, a 16th-century synagogue and a palace built by the Portuguese and given to the Raja of cochin. Day 14 – Drive Cochin - Ooty (320 Kms / approx. 07 hours)

In the early 19th century the British eastablished Ooty to serve as the summer capital of Chennai (Madras). Ooty is spread over a large area amoug rolling hills and valleys. On arrival in Ooty, check into hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 15 – In Ooty
After breakfast after a short city tour of Ooty visiting Botanical Gardens , St.Stephen’s Church spend rest of the day relaxing or doing nature walk. Spend rest of the day at leisure.

Day 16 – Drive Ooty - Mysore (165 Kms / approx. 04 hours)
Red fort and lotus templeAfter breakfast start your drive for Mysore. The City is famous for its silk and also a thriving sandalwood  and incense centre. Mysore was named after the mythical Mahisuru, where the goddess Chamundi slew the demon Mahishasura. On arrival in Mysore check into hotel. Later in the afternoon continue your city tour including Mysore Palace , the seat of the maharajas of Mysore, Zoological gardens and the Brindavan Garden, beautiful by day as well as night.

Day 17 – Drive Mysore - Hassan (135 Kms / approx. 04 hours)
After breakfast depart for Hassan enroute visiting Halebid and Belur. Construction of the Hoysaleswara  Temple at Helebid began around 1121 and despite more than 80 years of labour, it was never completed. It is one of the most amazing example of Hoysala art. The Channekeshava Temple at Belur is the only one at the three major Hoysala sites still in daily use. Later continue you drive for Hassan. On arrival in Hassan, check into hotel.

Day 18 – Drive Hassan - Bangalore (160 Kms / approx. 04 hours)
Red fort and lotus templeAfter breakfast leave by surface for Banglore. Bangalore is regarded as India’s one of the India’s most progressive and liberal cities. It became an important fortress city under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, though little remains from this period except Lallbagh botanical gardens and a palace. On arrival in Bangalore check into hotel.
Overnight in Bangalore.

 

 

 

Day 19 - Depart Bangalore
Morning half day city tour of Bangalore. Visiting Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, Fort and Tipu Sultan’s Palace, Bull temple which is one of the Bangalore’s oldest temple. Later in-time transfer to Bangalore airport to board flight for onward destination.
